Merchants Package Plus Restaurant
Program has been designed to target well-managed family-style restaurants.

Risks that meet the following
criteria are eligible for this program:

Risks must have been in business
at their current location for at least three (3) years.

With multiple locations, the
main location must have been in business for 3 years.

Risks may have no more than
three (3) locations.

A maximum of 2 losses is allowed
with the condition that what caused the loss must have been corrected.

The total property values, including
Business Interruption and Inland Marine, should be limited to $2,500,000.
For risks located in frame buildings, the total values should not exceed
$1,000,000 (Protection Class 1-8) or $750,000 (Protection Class-9).

The risk’s cooking, heating,
air conditioning, refrigeration and electrical systems must comply with
current NFPA guidelines including a wet chemical fire suppression system.

The risk must be located in
a building that is less than 30 years of age and built for a commercial
occupancy, or completely gutted with utilities constructed in accordance
with building life/safety codes for restaurants. A restaurant located in
a converted dwelling is not eligible.

Cafeteria style is acceptable.
-
Restaurants may have limited
take-out exposures.
-
Risks must have less than 30%
of their total receipts from off-premises catering.

Restaurants must have liquor
receipts that are 35% or less of the total restaurant receipts, and food
must be available while the bar is open. Liquor legal liability coverage
is required if any liquor is served.

The risk must have property
and liability.
-
Risks must be 100% loss free.
-
No off-premise catering.
-
The construction of the building
must be joisted masonry or better. However, frame is acceptable if the
building was constructed for restaurant occupancy.
-
Protection class 1-8 is acceptable.
-
Risk must have been in business
for 5 years at the same location.
